The Musical Crisis of the "Three-Zone-Dilemma"
Today, music is painfully split into three specialized main-zones:
  • Body Zone

  • Spiritual Zone

  • Nostalgic Zone
Each of these zones points to a very important musical truth or root, but misses the other zones for its evolution. Therefore, the music of today comes to a mental still-stand in all of its branches, persisting in a crisis of universal dimension.

Body Zone

Music for dance and entertainment is still based on patterns of the 19th century’s music, mixed up with Afro-American style elements that have been synthesized in the last century. Newer developments are aggressively moving toward electronic sounds including a lot of interesting innovations. On the other hand, persisting rhythmic patterns are turning into a violent and destructive dogma.

The repetition rate of this music is too high to allow substantial growth. Thus, this music is reduced to feed primary body-oriented desires. It degenerates and returns more and more into itself, reinforced by commercial and marketing rules.

Spiritual Zone

Another kind of music broke free from the dogma of repetition to find new spaces and renewal of itself. While destroying the historical backbones of former music, a lot of exiting new fields has been discovered. On the other hand, the price was too high and the relation to its listeners has been lost almost completely.

Residing in a kind of ivory tower, today this music feeds the creators and related institutions rather than public listeners. A body-related musical basis is usually lost and the lack of natural structured growth in a personal and authorized compositional process is compensated by artificial systems and other degenerative artistic attitudes (concept art, etc.).

Nostalgic Zone

Music that finds all its elements in a great harmony combining body-related and spiritual spheres still exists! But today, this music plays in a hall of a museum, celebrated by highly cultivated orchestras and musicians.

Its parameters remain in a system of common understanding that has been established more than 300 years ago. It has driven Baroque, Classical and Romantic musical art as well as the great world of Jazz and Neo-Classic music of the last century. However, no new creation in this old paradigm has proven to be stronger than its predecessors.
