What is Cybermusic?
Cybermusic - Any music that is created beyond physical control and the primary reproduction of its musical sediments.

Physically Controlled Music

Mechanical actions of the human body for the purpose of creating sounds: Striking, clapping, playing with the fingers, arms, or legs, bowing, blowing, and - of course - singing, and any other kind of voice actions.

These real-time actions are applied to mechanical and hybrid (electro-acoustic) instruments or media.

Non-Physical Music Creation

Musical description, editing and control of sound operations within a cybernetic system of electronic sound production and reproduction.

These systems are based on algorithmic models and may include psycho-acoustical parameters.

Musical Sediments of Physical Control

Musical structures that have been established to allow an optimum coordination of sound actions across different players, especially
  • Periodical metric system for synchronizing entries of sound events produced by different musicians (musical score system).

  • Periodical tone intervals for synchronizing and harmonizing frequencies produced by different musicians (harmonic tonal system).
Other sediments are experiences with the sound scope (sound behavior) of mechanical instruments, the standard case of producing fixed frequencies, etc.

Primary Reproduction

A musical element presented by the electronic media is a matter of primary reproduction as far as the outer recognition - the recognition of its designated object - is stronger than the inner recognition - the recognition of its interrelation within the musical context of the presented music.

This relation is valid on all hierarchical levels and obviously listener-pending.
