Dallas Austin: Keeping The Creative
Process Flowing With Logic July
7th 2003
Top producer Dallas Austin is always busy these days. He
entered the pop music industry with his celebrated and
chartbreaking productions for Boys II Men, and quickly became
a sought after producer for pop and R & B acts. His
credits include TLC's "Unpretty" and Pink's "Just Like A
Pill".
As a talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he
needs software that is both a powerful tool for music
production, and a creative working environment for
composition. Logic Platinum 6 fits the bill perfectly for
Dallas Austin and his engineer and programmer Rick Sheppard.
Read about the challenges they both face in today‘s pop
business in this Interview.
Logic rocks the WWDC 2003 June 27th 2003
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs recently demonstrated exactly
what the introduction of the first 64 Bit desktop processor
means to native computer-based music production, in front of
3.600 guests at this year‘s Worldwide Developer Conference in
San Francisco. The audience witnessed the outstanding
performance of Logic systems on the brand new Power Mac G5,
demonstrated with a complex sequence from blockbuster movie,
"The Matrix". The crowd was so enthused by the demo, that
it drew a spontaneous standing ovation.
Dr. Gerhard Lengeling, Emagic‘s head of software
development, was asked on stage by Steve Jobs, to offer his
assessment of the outstanding performance afforded by the G5.
Internal test results have indicated that - at the same clock
speed - some applications now only need 25 per cent of the
G5's CPU power, when compared with earlier generation
processors.
Logic‘s the Smart Solution for Scoring TV
Ads June 27th
2003
British duo "Alpinestars" attracted the attention of one of
the advertising agencies used by Coca Cola for their
production on "Carbon Kid“ - feat. Placebo‘s singer Brian
Molko - from their "White Noise" album. Richard Woolgar of
Alpinestars used Logic Platinum 6 to quickly rearrange the
song with additional vocals, making it a perfect fit for the
U.S. TV ad.
Richard and Glyn Thomas, who are well-known in Manchester‘s
(UK) vivid club scene, are turning more towards classical
songwriting with an electronic flavour, rather than producing
dance tracks. They will begin producing their third
long-player with Logic Platinum 6 - on a PowerBook G4 in Mac
OS X this time around - within the month.
Check out the Interview
with Richard Woolgar of Alpinestars.
