FEEDBACK

Hi Freed

Just wanted to thank you for coming and giving your charming "musical offering" and CD.

I was for me a magical evening and everything connected so nicely together (even your "rough" music ...). Wish for more collaborations and sharing of this type in the future.

Hugs

Josef

Hallo Friedhelm,

Was genau sieht man z.B. in 3c?

Hallo Friedhelm,

euch kennengelernt?

Hi

I was playing arround with your Milky way and had some quick thoughts I would like to share.

The materials are fantastic - great groove!

The sound quality sould be better? As you know there are different kinds of MP3 compressions - that may be the thing?

It is not always clear which track is playing - mostly not when they resemble. May be not a problem for who "studies" the tracks. I dont know...

Bye.

Igal

This is a fantastic layered sample.  I've created a Java game that randomly layers bell samples tuned to Brian Eno's Music for Airports motif.  Unfortunately, Javasound doesn't play well with other elements of the game (especially in Linux), so this loop is a perfect alternative for a backing track.  Nice work Freed!

I downloaded a sample of yours its the 19746__Freed__POW07_F02_Voice.mp3 and the effect of this is really pretty sweet. I am recording a somewhat heavy song and want to use something like this in the beginning and then all hell will break loose haha I was wondering if you would ea able to make another one similar to this? Also if the voice said some more words if possible?

Thanks I really love the samples!

Your Sound Samples

Hello. I've been downloading some of your sounds/samples on "The Freesound Project" website. I really like them. My current project is creating a 'hidden track' for personally use. I am not sure what I am going to use it for but the idea came in mind when I was listening to your samples. I thought; "Hey...these samples sounds kind of like a hidden track. I wonder if I could mix all of them into one?" So I did.

I am NOT a professional by any means, I just like messing around. Would you care to hear what I came up with?

Thanks for your reply (use of your sample in Flight No 9 at gorazd.bozic.org). I did check your site -- very impressive! Yes, a bit "crazy" here and there, but impressive.

Cheers,

Gorazd

Hi Friedhelm

I am not so keen about background music, and for me any music is artistic and it's suitability depends on specific context. What

could be interesting for me is if the selection and shuffling of the pieces used would interact dynamically with the space, for example be dependent

on the number of people in the space (motion sensors), the amount of light (photometers) etc.

There are some video artists that specialize working with electronic music including interactive software (max/msp etc.)

I'm not so much in this scene. One woman i heard of is Liora Belford from the label Interval Recordings

this is her link:

http://www.interval-recordings.com/html/artists/liorabelford.html

and she is also member of a couple called dupras (there is a link to there). I don't

know the art quality of her work but they are quite famous in the scene and professional

another quite known and talented guy is Ran Slavin

http://ranslavin.com/main.html

I don't know if they're interested in collaboration but worthwhile contacting them.

Best

Josef

Hi Friedhelm

How are u ?

A few things. I visited your freesound network. It's really nice with all the possibilities to easily

build this network. I only hate when u enlist u have to write your personal status ... Listened

to some of the I ching pieces. The sound is most of the time very aesthetic and pleasant

although not exactly my style of music, so maybe my opinions are not of someone who

is really into this kind of music. It reminds me of ambient techno styles like

future sound of london. My favorite piece of what i heard was "peace". I find most pieces

a bit static and i would like there to be more areas without rhythmical elements at all and

perhaps in some places long melodic and harmonic developments like what fsol do. It's nice that u use

sampled voices but the processing of them is a bit repeating itself in a couple of pieces.

Since it is a concept project, maybe a text about how you view the relation of the I-ching with

u'r music would be interesting.

I really do not like the videos, they are really like screen savers and don't add nothing to the music.

If u feel u need to add visual it should be very specific & taken from different worlds

(text, video, photo, wave graphs etc). I don't know, maybe because visual-sound relation

is one of my major interests i'm a bit too critical about it.

Best Wishes

Josef

Hi Fried,

Hope all is well with you and that you enjoyed the recent holidays.

It took me some time to download the files, and still more to listen to them in the right mood (and quiet), but I did listen to a few hundreds of sounds I downloaded from your nice CM gallery.

I thought I could take one more minute to tell you which ones were my favorites. They probably aren't the most elaborated, but it could be nice to know what others think of your work :-)

My favorites are: LET06 (the madman's Hava Nagila), BBG10 (did you play with Atari as a kid?), CSY04 (cool beat), LET04/14 (quiet robots), PSY02 & LET15 (computer terminals sounds).

There is a series of others which were nice,too: KSP04 & 19, BBG02, POW02, TB02 and POW03

My 2 cents...and if you let me know which section was added last, I'll check it out too when I can

Hello,

We would like to use a section of your BBG-L01-Birds in an amateur theatre production. I find the CC agreement quite difficult to fathom, so just wanted to check that you would be happy with a credit in the programme as follows:

Audio samples courtesy of Freed, xxxx, xxxx and xxxx c/o The Freesound Project at www.freesound.org.

xxxx being other contributors to Freesound whose work we are using.

Regards,

Hi. Can you help me with the tags? I mean how should I do this. Take a look at some of the stuff I added. I see that there are some info I am not listing. What should I do? Is there stuff that I am missing? When I create or mix some sounds, how should I list them? Basically how go about doing this sort of thing. Incidently, I want to use your work and your work only. from now on (if that's ok with you). I wish not to use no one elses. I really like your sounds!

I want to be more active and I don't want to be in non-compliant with the rules around here. I am getting involved on doing this and having a lot of fun doing this. I am going to be doing the "Hidden Track" stuff. Please help me ok?

Hi! I'd like to let you know that I have used your women voices sample in a song titled "Flight No. 9". You can check it out at

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Gorazd-Bozic/35091053916
http://gorazd.bozic.org/glasba/

The latter is in Slovenian, but you'll spot the song easily. Please let me know if this use of the sample is OK with you (it's under the CC licence, right?) and if you wish that I add any additional references to your sample. Other comments are of course also welcome, but please do keep in mind that I am an amateur musician only.

Cheers,
Gorazd

PS: Your sample starts at 02:00 in the song.

dear Freed,
About a month ago a friend sent me several of your voice-processed files, and said "you've got to hear these! Someone who uses voice-modulation creatively!". We worked with vocoders and other voice-processors some time back, and got the feeling people were getting lazy with them, going for the obvious; but every so often someone re-finds them afresh, and we realize why they existed in the first place. Your voice-emulations were just joyous. Silly, playful, magical. I've always been meaning to say something, but hadn't gotten to it...then I got your comment and realized it was time. You're one of those contributors who loves to peer inside sound and see what's in its 'molecules', or just listen to their 'want-lists'. Some sounds have want-lists, like posts in a forum; they want someone to recognize that they'd be great in this setting, or perfect with that processing. Then some sound-maker comes along, reads their posts, and--wallah! A transformed sound! You're one of those people. After that, I heard your bell work, and there it was again: You understood what they needed, took them out, got them new wardrobes, and uploaded them. You're a true sound-lover. I'll be hearing more of your work as the weeks go on...

Finally, thanks for the compliment to my tone-cluster. It was a snippet of a larger composition which is unfinished. Re. the corruption: It was an i-tunes file converted to quicktime; and perhaps I converted badly. I thought i-tunes was a pain because you have to delete the file when you're through--otherwise they pile up in the i-tunes folder--so I convert. I'll upload an alternate--I don't think you can 'replace' on FSounds. (If you have any tips, feel free. I have always lacked in production.) In any case, it was nice to be noticed by a contributor like yourself. My thanks.

All good things to you out in yisroel!
Enjoy!
Mark

Hey Freed,

I'm a music teacher in Oregon. My 7th grade class are presently creating a music/fx score for another class's play. The play is a Frankenstein/Dracula type of horror show and some of your electrical samples are going to be great for use in the mad scientist's laboratory.
Thanks for going to the trouble of creating and uploading this excellent collection. I downloaded the electric effects sample packs.

Thanks,

Mark Pritchard (djbob55)

Christiane Strothmann

Vielen Dank für Ihren sehr interessanten Vortrag. Das rege Interesse unserer Studenten an
Ihren kompositorischen Aktivitäten haben Sie ja bereits selber erlebt.

Roland Masslich

Ja deine Ausfuehrungen haben allen richtig Spass gemacht.
